I didn't see any VSTi's... just a list of VST's. The Vienna' thing didn't come w/ REAPER, all the rest did. And if REAPER is seeing Vienna Ensemble Pro, some how it got pointed toward it. Have you even tried just clicking "All Plugins" to see if your piano VSTi shows up? You're not giving me much to work with, here. Sorry about this. I have checked using All Plug ins and searched and get nothing with City Piano. I know that I am doing something wrong with the initial set-up this is usually where I give upon things and go back to notation. I cannot attach a screen shot as the All plug-ins fills up more than one page.

Follow the next three(3) words precisely:
DON'T GIVE UP!
Go back to my post, "Finishing Initial Setup". Refer to it as many times as you need during setup. And, please... Let me know if any of my assumptions about how things look on your end are different.
When you unzipped "City Piano" there was a ".dll" file. Is this correct? Is there anything else after unzipping?
The ".dll" is the file you need in your VST/VSTi folder.
Where is the folder containing "Vienna Ensemble... " ? I ask because REAPER has somehow found that VST. Did you give REAPER the path to that?
EDIT: Alternatively, you could try putting your unzipped piano VSTi .dll file into the same folder in which the 'Vienna files reside.

It does seem like a miracle. I thought you said that you downloaded City Piano. Oh well, that doesn't matter - I think you're going to like KeyZone a lot more, anyway. So? ?? Do you want to tell me how you did it? (I take that when you say, "On my screen", that you mean you've got in in REAPER. At least I hope that's the case). Please describe the "missing link" that, when corrected, made it all happen.

What exactly do you mean when you say "search for anything"?

sorry I meant auto detect. Initially I told Reaper where the vst folder was and that did not work.

It's great that you finally got to this stage. However, not knowing how to tell REAPER exactly where your VST folder is located is kind of a 'loose end' you should strive to correct ... when you've 'recovered' from this exhausting exercise, that is.
Have fun with KeyZone (and post up any further bumps in the road if encountered).

Thanks but as I am a rank novice I could do with help on entering notes as in notation somewhere in Reaper if that is possible.

At the moment I am not getting any sound from Reaper when I hit a key. I get lights on the mixer but no volume.

Couple things:
1. Click the "Record" button on the track containing your VSTi.
2. You [b/]must[/b] click-on the MONITOR button on the same track. It looks looks a little tiny 'speaker' icon. (This trips up a lot of newbies - it did me).
Note: Numbers 1 & 2 are necessary in-order to hear your VST.
3. As a double check against whether your keyboard input into REAPER is setup correctly - "Cntrl+Alt+B" enables an onscreen keyboard that you can click w/ a mouse to check things out.
*** NOTE: It's "Cntrl+Alt+B" on a pc.

BIG CORRECTION!
MACS / OSX does NOT use .dll files (these are for Windows-only).
MACS use files of ".VST" file type.

It looks like the problem is the aforementioned, all-important MONITOR button. Remember that? We can go about this two ways.
Go down to the mixer, channel 1. Right-click on the red "record" button. Top of the resulting drop-down menu - "Monitor Input" - click it.
Method 2. L click and drag the mixer upward so that it is a bit taller. This will reveal a button (little speaker icon) that you simply click to enable monitoring. I told you this is the step that screws up most newbies (including me).
Did that work?
