Hi Kevin,
What a very nice and memorable tune you have there. It took me a while to get it out of my head ;-).
The scoring works particularly well around b44 and is very expressive as a result. At bars 22 and 23, the winds could probably play those 2 bars under one slur if you wished, although there is nothing wrong the way it is phrased. In some places though, you have slurred just the first 2 quavers in a bar which seems a little overly fussy to me. The violin solo bowing is well done and that part is lovely and the string bowing in general is ok. I like the vc pizz. too under the violin solo. If that were mine, I'd put a cresc on the first 2 beats of the vc pizz. and a dim. on the last 2 - it just feels right and adds a little something to a simple arpeggio. Always think about your individual parts in a musical and performance based way. Midi tends to dull the musical expression and if you are not careful, you can miss the full potential of what you write. Always ask yourself how a musician would like to perform it. Nice touch with the muted trpts at the end. Is this going to be played by your amateur band?

Thanks for the comments Mike. Yes it is for my ensemble. Just have to find out if any of them play the piano!

Kevin, Are you using NotePerformer? This sounds a bit like a Wurlitzer from the start. Perhaps as Mike says, real players will help.
You've got me wondering though. Who poached the most members from the other forum. You or Morabito?

Very nice. Thanks for posting. Yes a very memorable theme. Mike is such a stickler for marking up a score that I'm shocked to see that he thinks anything is too fussy Quality of a sound file doesn't bother me. I get what you are doing. Though, to me, the piano sounds like it is in another room.

I really like this, Kevin.
Will we get to hear a live recording once you've performed it?
Your group should enjoy this.

Very nice. It grows in intensity and takes you with the music itself.

Very nice! Even though it's only a single melody, I think you did a great job at presenting it in various accompaniments that build up to an awesome tutti. Even though I generally don't have that much interest in this style of music, I did enjoy this one all the way to the end. The final glock strike at the end was a nice touch.
Thanks for sharing this!

Just had the news that this piece will be played at a composers festival in September. Any tweaks gratefully accepted!
