Music - specifically the business of composing it and getting it down on paper in such a way other people can understand it - is fantastic. It's also often very confusing, both to neophytes and veterans. The goal here is to make sense of as much confusion as possible by asking questions, answering them and offering solutions from first-hand experience.
Have you written a certain style? Composed and recorded with real musicians? Do you know a lot about fugal writing? I guarantee that, however obvious some aspect of your knowledge might seem to you, there's a composer - probably like me - desperate to acquire it. If you think you know something useful, from timpanis to tessitura, we'd love to hear it.
This is not a purist classical forum; my focus now is semi-traditional orchestral, soundtrack and classical (and this will doubtless bias my own posts) but I've done everything from folk to synthwave. Other members have similarly disparate portfolios. You don't need to be able to read music to post or find this forum useful, nor do you need to work in any particular field, whether traditional or contemporary.
