Beautiful Greg. Effortless , simple and elegant in places...not easy to do for functional music. I bet you found it quite cathartic to write in such a paired down manner, I know I have in the past.
Also impressive is the variation in technique from the Nocturne to the Rag and the ease with which you make 2 parts sound complete. Worthy additions to examination syllabuses imv.

Thanks, Mike! Very kind of you to listen. Especially considering that 'Intermediate repertoire' isn't much of a lure! I'm very heartened by your response, as with these pieces, I am speaking to composers as well. I tried to make them appealing (partly bc I'll have to hear them in lessons:) The 'simple- elegant' is what I'm striving for regardless of stylistic leanings. The Anna Magdalena model- I've always admired, and still shake my head - is a great example of that pairing down. It is sometimes difficult, as some of the pieces wanted to be more involved than I made them. The challenge was to create the impression that they were 'complete' - (where the piece doesn't ask me, 'Could you take it up a notch?'. There is definitely something cathartic in that barebones approach. - but what I found even more challenging - the words needed to explain everything along the way, and figuring 'what' to introduce in each step of the process. As I finish this, I don't think I've felt as much anticipation for getting back to an empty canvass. (a whole freaking year...
