Yeah, I don't get it… maybe bc being a composer, but for me a film (one that works, imo) is one that casts a spell.. If I'm taken out of that spell by hearing some music I associate w another film, (and especially under similar dramatic context), that blows the whole thing… And It's not quite like at all Kubrick using Strauss or Ligeti for example.. (2001). Yes. Sad, indeed. and dull..in fact I'd go as far as to say, destructive. Cheers!

Although I've seem most of those films, I couldn't say that I could identify the music from most of them. Or even know I'd heard a lot of it before. And the general public would have even less an idea. Of course, Esmail likes how it turned out. He thought it up, after all. I agree that the music needs to be crafted to the film (therefore, original), but it's hard for me to get too excited about this, either way.

I watched a few episodes to see how this worked out. (My wife got hooked on the show!).
Without knowing the original in many cases, it "seemed" to work a few times. Other scenes it just seemed out of place. The biggest thing you hear is how out of place the style of the music is. Soundtracks were different then and they strike the ear as out of place. Definitely a novel concept.
