Oh no! It's that crazy fugue guy again, with his wannabe-Bach fugues that desecrate the fugal form with silliness and poor writing that makes Bach roll in his grave! Ahem. This one started out of pure frustration last week when I simply could not make any progress with my current WIP fugues, and decided on a whim to write a fugue on a silly 3-note subject that would make Bach cringe. But the results turn out to cause my ears to bleed much less than I expected, so I decided to risk exposing it to the public for their listening (dis)pleasure... ;-) The subject being what it is, in the course of taking it through the paces of fugal composition the countersubject got a life of its own and could arguably be considered the "real" subject, since the formal subject is so ridiculous and trivial that the countersubject is where the real meat is. Nevertheless, the subject is still emphasized everywhere just to rub it in. And of course, there's the obligatory Phrygian mode entry just to make it even sillier. Score: fugue11.pdf (89.65 KB) Audio: fugue11.mp3(BTW, what's up with the 1MB limit on upload file size?! I don't remember the limit being this low... but I haven't been here for ages so perhaps I just forgot.) Edit: updated score and audio with some minor fixes.

A delightful and cheery piece! Infectious (in the best way:)
It's funny, I thought, "HS is now appropriating many sequences!" Something, as I recall, you were not so inclinded to do w fugues. But then I realized that those sequences were indeed embedded with the 3 note subject! It's like bc the subject is so short, they can easily hide in something that hits the ear as a sequence. So it's like you can have it both ways!
Really fun and joyful - like birds singing to welcome a new day.

It's good to have something infectious that isn't also deadly or detrimental in some way.
