I hope the handful of members here are doing ok. I and loved ones - so far, ok. I have been more busy than before the virus hit.
Converting to online piano lessons demands more preparation, and has certain challenges in conveying instruction remotely.
I seem to be getting the hang of it, though. One advantage to this format is that I am sitting at a piano as well during the lesson, which is less cumbersome than asking to take the bench, and then returning to my seat.
Another thing, is that the washer and water heater need repair, and I find myself spending hours learning how to do it. Today, I'm vacuuming out all the debris from below the burner, after removing the thermocouple, gas, and igniter leads. Tomorrow I receive a gas control valve, which I broke while trying to remove the thermocouple, which would have been an easy replacement. Now, I must install this gas valve as well. But before that, must flush out the whole system. So much fun to attend these things.
What's been going on w you guys?
Also, a little while ago, I was requested to write a short bio (500 words, which was not so short, to me), for an upcoming album release. Also 500 words of liner notes for the string qt. I hated to doing this. Have any here had to do this?
It took me 2 f... weeks.
At the end of my process, one of my students is a writer, and she fixed my bio, so it didn't sound like a laundry list - and made it spicy. Lucky.
A quote from Shostakovich haunted me the whole way, almost cursing, 'In the long run, any words about music are less important than the music. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not worth talking to.' (Shostakovich)
