Just caught her on the radio playing the Tchaikovsky, and almost forgot I was driving.. What a force of nature! What she brings to this warhorse is surreal in it's scope. Definitely, a completely different approach.. it's almost like she's co-composing, and there is a 'live wire' improvisatory sense to it. - . I wanted to post the 3rd movement, but am able to, so here's the 1st movement of the Tsch. Violin concerto: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbdy5Ldeo70&list=RDjghIunLv5jk&index=3She's evidently coming to Ojai new music festival in 2020. I'm there.

Came across her again and I had the flash of insight--she's basically re-orchestrating the concerto for the 21st century. All these little expressive violin details, sul pont and sul tasto techniques--they'd likely all be written into a 21st century score...

Yes. Quite brilliant I think - a perfect approach to re-enliven these petrified concerti.. Certainly took the dead skin off my ear for this repertoire. I was moment to moment wondering what she'd do next!
