Well, here is more of the usual stuff.
Regardless of what you think of the recording quality, This was a very challenging piece. It started out being not at all what I wanted, and kept getting worse. I considered scrapping it altogether. But instead, with some crafting and reworking I brought it together to my liking. Much more rewarding to attempt to use composing skill to get something that I enjoy, than to chuck it and start over. Gad, did I say composing skill? Sorry, I would never make that kind of presumption. All I meant was that I was able to fix it to my admittedly low standards.
And yes, I most definitely wrote this to the strengths (?) of this sound set. Why? Turns out the 8 measures before the final section when the violins and horns play off each other, were an accident. I was trying to write something cool. I had no idea how they would turn out. Yet they are probably among my most favorite measures I've written. I've put this piece in two different programs with 4 different sound sets. Other versions had much better presence and over-all sound quality. But none of them came remotely close to playing those 8 measures as well, in my opinion.
The trumpet in this library is not very good. So even though I had written a trumpet part, I ended up not using it because it did not blend well. But rest assured that if I were to have a real group play this (not at all likely) there would be parts in addition to the ones here.
Let's pretend for a moment that this piece were worth a damn. Let's say a real group was to play it. Thing is that eight groups could play whatever orchestration I ended up with, and all eight would be different. Not only from each other, but from my original intention. I agree they would all be far better than this recording. Doesn't make any difference. I have my eight measures.
