Awesome! Thanks for sharing, that was a wonderful selection of fugal passages from the Beethoven symphonies, which hold a special place in my heart. My absolute favorite passages among them are the trio in the 3rd mvmt of the 5th symphony, and the fugato that immediately follows the Turkish march variation in the finale of the 9th symphony. In fact, the trio fugue was what I used as a model when I first started writing fugato passages and my first (attempt at) fugue. I've to admit, though, I knew all of these passages in the past but never realized they were mini-fugues embedded in a larger whole. This video made me appreciate them in a brand new way. Yeah I know, my ignorance is showing... I really should be sitting down, score in hand, with these symphonies and doing proper analysis of them. But there's just no time these days. But anyway, even just hearing these passages again, and seeing them in a new light, is freshly inspiring me with the ingenious inventiveness and interest that Beethoven infuses into most (all?) of his music. Now I feel like trying out some of the fugal techniques he demonstrates in these passages. So many clever ideas! Must stea^Wborrow them for my own work. Could very well be the solution to my current composer's block!
