Never been a pub type person. But what the heck. And talk about.....stuff.
I don't play trumpet any more. I built the acoustic guitar that I play now. Kind of fun.

This is one of mine. I don't have a place to make them any more. All wood binding, rosette, and pick guard. Pearl inlay, even in the pick guard. Kind of fun. Adds an extra layer of meaning to play an instrument I made. Attachments:

Funny story.
Personally, I think Martin makes the best sounding guitars, by far. I owned an inexpensive (?) one for awhile. Then, I got it in my head one day to make my own. Almost no woodworking experience. Never even made a workbench before. I think I made 15 or so. I wanted to make a guitar that sounded as good as a Martin. Alas they fall woefully short. Then it occurred to me that Martin was already making guitars that sound like Martins. And they do a really good job of it. I needed to make guitars that sounded like .....mine. So I built them as best I could and they are what they are. Besides, the best guitar in the hands of a duffer like me doesn't sound very good. A good player knows how to coax the best sounds out of any instrument. I worked in a violin shop for about ten years. In the violin world, the value of an instrument is determined by who made it, what kind of shape it is in, and has it been repaired properly. That's about it. In side by side blind tests, quite often judges will think a modern violin sounds better than a Stradivarius. But the Strad will sell for 16 million while the modern violin will go for 10 thousand or less. But to answer your question, my guitars sound fantastic, of course. I posted a video of me playing one after this forum opened.

It's all my fault. I just took a break off writing fugues, and look what happened.
