Strictly classical? I hope not. I'd like to see a sub-forum devoted to hybrid and/or experimental works.

I don't think this is going to be strictly classical. That's rather unlike Dave. It's probably just barely beginning so we don't have the full spectrum in their respective sections just yet.

But you've got to admit... Dave is a 'classic'.

But with Mike on board here, I think we have little to fear. He writes atonal fugues; you can't get much more hybrid than that when it comes to combining modern with classical!

I'll see how it goes as I can move things around when trends appear, but my worry for having sub-categories of music is once I start, where do I stop? This certainly isn't a purist classical composer forum; if people want feedback on dubstep trombone quintets, I'd hope they're posted with everything else. And with the likely smallish number of immediate members, making sub-categories could result in lonely, ill-visited areas. It also potentially promotes the classical/contemporary divide. If I can think of some way of doing it and it seems useful, it could happen. Glad to see you here anyway! Strictly classical? I hope not. I'd like to see a sub-forum devoted to hybrid and/or experimental works.

Yeah, with such a small active membership even on the old Ning forum, we risk death by balkanisation if we start off with too many subcategories that nobody visits in this new forum. I would think Dave should be accomodating enough that if we start developing an active membership interested in, say, electronica, or atonality, or spectral composition, new subforums would be introduced on an as-needed basis.

I went through the CF forum topics to see what seemed useful and barely any of it is used, so I streamlined a lot. I'm thinking of posting some simple arrangements of songs done with vocal and guitar. just for fun, mostly.

@bob: please do. I haven't seen you post your music that often back in the old forum, but what little I did hear pleased me, and I'd love to hear more.
