Thanks for that Bob. May I ask if you have a score for this in any format?
It has a lovely theme that could do with a bit more adding to it. I think that Even a basic key change before the last section would enhance what you have done

Hey Kevin,
Actually these three things aren't going to be together in the final production. This is just the way I have them now as I play around with them. Sure, as is, a key change would be good. Each section will be at different places in the video, and will be developed accordingly. 1st, meditation about meeting her sponsored child. Talking about what it means to sponsor someone. 2nd, anticipation of the actual meeting. 3rd, the joy of the meeting.
I'm going to try some Hindustani music also. But I really don't have the right sound sets. Tabla would be great.
I haven't figured out a good way to post a score. I have a small drop box account.
Thanks for listening.

OK. Here is a score. This is not for real players. No articulations. This is what Sibelius read to make a sound file. Each section is stand alone, and meant to be developed. This is just a sketch of what might be possible. I would never claim to be much at orchestrating. though with a little work, this is totally playable, and very simple. Sure, the left hand of the piano part at the end should be treble clef. www.dropbox.com/s/4grrvn498w9hytg/compassion%20-%20Full%20Score.pdf?dl=0

Bob, I have done some work on it. This is a sib 5 file as I am not sure which version you are using. I tend to lean towards music that it relatively easy to play for the players, less time in rehearsal! I am fairly sure that in the hands of a master craftsman this could be further developed. I also arrange for my ensemble hence the odd line up. I added four bars as I felt it did not seem correct. They can be removed if needed. Let me know your thoughts on these pages. compassion.sib (157.27 KB)

Kevin,
I'm flattered you wanted to do anything with this. I don't have time to respond in detail right now. I will later. You certainly have an interesting group of instruments.

More thoughts. Interestingly enough, originally the melody was a measure shorter. So it ended very abruptly. So if it still seems that way, I might be OK with it. I think it makes the repeated measures at the end that much more rewarding. Your four measures don't appeal to me. That and with the suspension at the end of the phrase seem more to complicate a simple statement of the melody. Don't get me wrong, I love suspensions. I will write them until my fingers fall off, but it didn't seem right in that spot. This music will occur at different places in the video. So there is plenty of opportunity for development. I think I want this to be piano driven. The melody was written for piano. Of course other instruments can play it. But for the most part,I'm thinking piano. That said, I might have chosen English Horn for the opening statement. And cello underneath. Both for the darkness and uncertainty of tone. There will be dialogue over parts of this, so I don't want there to be competing frequencies between speaking and music. I'm glad you are having fun with it. Please continue.

Bob, Thanks for the comments. Firstly I am looking at this piece as something for my ensemble to play hence the instrumentation. I have no piano or cor available. I too feel it is perfect for piano. The work I have done is only for a sort of concert performance rather than music to be added to something else. This is why it is turning out as it is. When you see what else I have done you may not want me to go further as I have built it up to quite a full sound. Anyway I will carry on and post it. If you prefer I did not use it then say so. I am just g working with something that is not mine!

Kevin,
No problem. Feel free to use it as you wish. I was only giving my thoughts on what you have done. As the arranger, you kind of get to do what you feel best.
If I were to make this into a concert type piece, I'd probably do much of what you have here. I'd start out very simply. do a little development. Introduce a second theme. More development. Yadda yadda. And build up to a climax that rips your heart out. You know, all the usual stuff. Do you want a second theme from me? By the way, I have Sib 7.5.
But remember what they say about turn about.

Bob, sorry it has been a long time. I have been really busy!
I have restarted work on the piece and hope to get it finished by the end of the week.

Kevin. Looks good. By the way, I've added a B theme to this if you are interested. I'm trying to figure out how you posted your sib. file. I can ear my computer down to component parts, but to actually use it......?
