Good look with that then. Try and approach some of the larger amateur orchestras with your video's and sound files as well.

I can understand that Bob, I just think it is a shame that more amateur orchestras don't want to play music from living composers especially as there are a lot of them about looking to hear their music live. Yeah, I'm sure there are no shortages of amateur musicians more than capable of playing new music. If only there were a way to hook up said musicians with random-nobody-composers like Bob and myself, so the musicians get the experience they need, and we get to hear the music we want.

Whilst I haven't tried that hard, amateur orchestras I've found and contacted tend to be rehearsing film scores and things and putting on local concerts to raise money for themselves. There'd be no incentive to use their time indulging me (even if they heck well should) though I have offered contributions to their petty cash. Really amateur orchestras that just get together for fun are unlikely to be good enough for you/one to be interested - as soon as they get good enough to draw audiences the window then shuts. People have suggested I try music colleges but I haven't yet. It's not that they don't want to play music by living composers. It has more to do with playing music that will attract an audience. Unknown composer equals less interest. Orchestras are having a hard enough time.

This is going off topic now, anyway I will just like to add that when programming a concert I always like to include a new piece or two along with the normal repertoire that we use. I always have the ensemble play music for the audience, music that challenges the group and music that is new and fresh. Maybe other ensembles should do the same, that way way everyone is happy!
